We LOVE to go apple picking and are always looking for fun ways to use our apples. Applesauce is so easy and scrumptious. My kids also love "snack packs," so I try to make a big batch of applesauce and fill reusable pouches like Sili Squeeze. Making applesauce in the crockpot is so easy and efficient, not to mention it gets the house smelling like fall!! Here's how we do it (we keep it pretty simple):
20 apples (or whatever fits)
1 good teaspoon or so of cinnamon (based on your liking)
1/3 -1/2 cup honey (more or less based on the amount of apples and how sweet you like it)
good splash of lemon juice
splash of vanilla extract
1 (or so) cups of apple cider - use water or apple juice if you don't have cider
Happy Fall everyone!! Enjoy!!
