As a Mainer and wife of a lobsterman, it's probably not a shocker, but I'm obsessed with all things nautical! My son's doctor once asked me if there was a reason he was always dressed in anchors and whales. :-) Aside from the fact that finding outfits for baby boys without characters and writing all over it can be a challenge, anchors and whales (and fish, boats, and lobster) on baby clothes are SO cute (IMO)! I thought it would be fun to share some of my nautical favorites (way more than clothes) for the wee ones!
Babyhawk Ahoy Mei Tai-
I'm a huge fan of Mei Tais (and baby wearing in general). The great thing about a Mei Tai is that is so portable, you can just roll it up and throw it in your bag, and its also extremely customizable and easy to get a perfect fit. The brand new Ahoy pattern from Babyhawk is available for pre-order and coming real soon. Its available in a blue anchor and a yellow anchor with anchor drool pads. So cute!!
Ergobaby Carrier- in Sea Skipper
Love this new print from Ergobaby! This is the original style Ergo in the Sea Skipper print. Ergo is a well made carrier that offers ergonomically correct positioning for baby and parent. I'll admit, as a petite person, Ergo isn't always the best fit for me..with front carries the straps tend to slide down my shoulders, and I mind it hard to buckle on my own... But its fabulous for back carries (which my son loves), and this looks just too cute and cozy to pass up! ;-)
Sea Bags Baby Bag
My husband bought me a custom Sea Bags Baby Bag when I was pregnant with our first son, and it is still going strong. Mine is a cute mom and baby whale tale, but they have so many fantastic motifs..anchors, stripes, stars, whales, lobster claws, metallics etc... and if you don't see what you want, they'll make it! Sea Bags is of course another great Maine company (based right on Custom House Wharf in Portland). They make fabulous bags from recycled sales; check them out!
Honest Company Diapers- In Anchors & Stripes
I love the diapers from the Honest Company. Not only are they adorable, but they are eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, free from chlorine processing, and yet super absorbent! I've used them all along with my 2nd son with great success!
Great items from the Land of Nod!
The Land of Nod has some fantastic items for your little one's nautical room! This nautical flag banner is hanging in my older son's room right now.
Love the New School Fitted Crib Sheet in whale for babies room!
And the Oh-Buoy Bedding Collection for the big kid bed!!
Zutano Footie in Beluga Print
I LOVE Zutano clothing and accessories for babies! This was my favorite outfit for my son for a long time... I later bought him the pants in the beluga print...I absolutely adore it:-) Zutano products are well made and last! Most of my items have been through 2 kids and going strong!
Always some great nautical finds at Pottery Barn Kids!
Love the Jackson sheet/set- My son slept on this for years!
Great backpacks, lunchboxes, water bottles etc... with anchor patch/decal... I love the idea of a patch to help identify with out having a name on everything!
Also loving PBK's nautical hooded towels, wall décor and so much more!!
Starboard Twin Size Boat Bed
Santa brought my son this bed for Christmas...(via Overstock.com) it is way cuter in his little nautical room and pretty good quality for the price...Santa's helper (my husband) did have to put it together, but we had all the pieces we needed and it was pretty quick. I do also love the trundle bed version on PBK, but its at least 4 x the price and I just couldn't swallow that. Some of you are probably rolling your eyes at this, but its cute, reasonably priced for a twin bed, and my son has NEVER slept so well :-) He was going through a phase of not loving his room/bed, and that was instantly over when Santa brought this :-) **Note that I had a 12% off overstock coupon which made it a better deal, but when you sign up for emails at overstock you get an initial 10% off coupon... just in case you're interested.
Kissy Kissy- Ocean's Alive Collection
You truly cannot beat the softness of Kissy Kissy. These outfits are perfect for the wee little ones! I love the one piece outfits and the gowns especially. In the first month or so I found gowns a lifesaver. You pay for the quality with Kissy Kissy for sure, but look for deals. I've found Kissy Kissy at a local consignment store... If you are in Maine, you can find Kissy Kissy new at Baby Go Round in Hampton, Falls, NH, and at Pitter Patter in Bath. Right now Baby Go Round is offering 40% off all winter clothing (and outerwear).
I am a huge fan of Etsy!! There are a lot of fabulous nautical inspired items out there, but here are a few of my favorites!!
Sweet Stuff from laceylove81- Makes the most amazing crocheted hats! This lobster hat to the left is my favorite! I had her do custom lobster hats with earflaps (she takes custom orders) for my two boys... they are amazing!! She is also in Maine and super nice which is even better!!
Little House of Colors and Scooter Booties are two of my favorites for baby soft sole shoes and bibs... love these so much!!
