![]() Since most of us are flying out the door to work, or driving the kids to school, or activities or are too busy with baby to think about cooking an elaborate breakfast for ourselves .. lets talk about quick breakfasts and snacks on the go. First of all, let me preface this post by saying that truthfully some of my favorite snacks are ones I also feed my kids. I actually posted a few months back about my favorites snacks for the kids so honestly refer to this post for some yummy snacks for everyone!! I especially love the energy balls :-) But here are some more ideas- Smoothies- are my #1 go-to snack or meal on the go. Follow my recipes on Thirsty Thursdays, and also check out Simple Green Smoothies, Mind Body Green, and Sara Sullivan Certified Holistic Nutritionist, I always find great recipes on these sites. Energy Bars- Check out my recipe and use your creativity/taste buds.. substitute with what you like best.. I've also been adding protein powder to these for extra staying power. Chia Seed Porridge- Check out this recipe from Sara Sullivan - Its a quick and easy breakfast and you can add to it based on what you have in the house or what is in season.. In the winter I love the pumpkin spice, and in the summer its delicious with a little coconut and berries. USANA shakes- USANA Nutrimeal shakes are a favorite of mine. They're gluten and GMO free and low glycemic, and often what I'll mix up if I'm on the run. Gorp or trail mix- I always take a little bag of this with me, its a great quick snack and protein boost. I make a giant batch up for the week.. mine usually includes almonds, peanuts, raisins, dark chocolate, walnuts, coconut, dried cranberries, and Kashki Flax Cheerios, but the great thing about it is that anything goes.. throw in whatever fancies you! Breakfast cookies- Really, who doesn't love a cookie! Check out these Pecan Maple Breakfast Cookies from 100 Days of Real Food. They might not be gooey, buttery, chocolate chip, but they are yummy, fairly healthy, and a quick way to get a bite of real food. Perfect with your coffee. Fruit- Make up a fruit salad on Sunday, it's a great topper for yogurt & oatmeal Oatmeal Smoothies- these are heartier and a quick and easy way to get in your morning oatmeal. This is a great recipe for a Blueberry Muffin Smoothie from Mind Body Green. Hard-boiled eggs- I've been getting yummy farm fresh eggs from the farmer's market, and boil a bunch up at night to have on hand for the next day. Homemade Granola - I love granola and this is another thing I like to make up on Sunday to have around during the week. I like granola on yogurt or with a little almond or coconut milk. Check out my go to recipe. Thanks as always for stopping by! I'd love to hear your favorite snacks on the go! Rebecca
