I have favorite car seats and from time to time will recommend them, but that's totally from a mom's/user's perspective... I am NOT a car seat safety technician (though I plan to get certified). I look to the experts in this department. The Safe Kids Worldwide website is a great resource as well as The Car Seat Lady & Car Seats for the Littles on facebook which are great forums to ask questions. Both are continuously posting the latest safety updates and guidelines; make sure you check out the new guidelines for 2014!
I just read a scary statistic that 73% of all car seats are not used or installed correctly ...eek! Make sure you get your seats checked by a certified technician. The Safe Kids site will lead you to info on your state's events. If you live in Maine, click here for a calendar of free car seat checks.
For fellow Mainers and cold weather friends, be sure to check out this article from the Car Seat Lady on keeping your baby warm but safe and ideas on car seat covers.
