If you stop by here often, you know how much I love making smoothies in my Vitamix! I often mix up my own recipes, and play with ones I find online. Well, its been a crazy and hectic couple weeks and time has been limited which has led me to me new favorite app! The Blender Girl Smoothie App! It's genius for smoothie lovers! You can either look through all her recipes (currently her favorite 70, and she's rolling out 100 more..1 each week), or you can use the simple drop down questions to help narrow down your list based on what you're in the mood for, dietary restrictions, and what you're looking to achieve etc.. I also love that you can mark your favorites and come back to them quickly. My new favorite and go-to energy boost right now is her Cake Batter smoothie. She nailed the combination of flavors, and it's packed with yummy, healthy, and filling ingredients that stay with me as I go through my day!
Fall is without a doubt my favorite season. In fall Pumpkin becomes my go to flavor/ingredient. You know how much I love smoothies, so the boys and I made pumpkin smoothies today. SO yummy and a big hit with the boys- check out our recipe below.
3/4 cup coconut milk
1/2-3/4 cup pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2 tablespoons of coconut milk yogurt (optional)
1 cup ice
Mix all ingredients in your Vitamix or blender.
Enjoy the flavors of the season. Stay tuned, more pumpkin recipes to come!!
Happy Thursday everyone! Hope you're having a great week! Today's Thirsty Thursday is my attempt at recreating my favorite, go-to boost of goodness and energy. We have a great little smoothie shop in town, Peachy's Smoothie Café. If you're in the area, be sure to stop in, they have a location in Yarmouth & Freeport. The boys and I are pretty addicted :-) I LOVE the Tri-Energy and get it almost every time. While I will probably never make it as good as Peachy's, here is my attempt to recreate it at home:
1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup fresh apple cider
1 cup loosely packed spinach
1 cup kale (large stems removed)
2-3 dates (pitted)
a handful of almonds
1/2 cup mango
add ice to desired consistency (an alternative to ice would be to use frozen mango and banana)
Put all the ingredients in your Vitamix and blend until smooth. If you are using a standard blending, I'd recommend blending your greens with liquids prior to adding the other ingredients.
Hope you like it as much as I do! Thanks as always for stopping by!
