I'm kicking off a new series - on Monday's I'm going to try to post something pertaining to life in Maine. Maine events, Maine Makers or favorite things to do, we'll see where it goes and feel free to make suggestions! Today I thought it would be fund to talk about March events. Sandwiched between school breaks, with Winter sports wrapping up, crazy temperature shifts, snow, mud and rain, the month of March can be a long one here in Maine. Regardless of the season though there is always fun to be had here in Maine - here's a list of 6 events we're looking forward to. 1. Maine Maple SundayThe 35th anniversary of Maine Maple Sunday is officially on 25th, with lots of great events on that day and the surrounding days/weeks. This is one of our family's favorite events of the year. Last year we visited Hilltop Boilers in Newfield and had a great time sampling, checking out their sugarhouse and visiting with animals. Check out a list of open sugarhouses here. 2. Catch a Red Claws GameRegardless of your basketball knowledge, taking in a Red Claws game at the Portland Expo is a fun time. With home games and fun promotional events on March 8th, 15th, 18th and 22nd, there's plenty of opportunities to see what it's all about. 3. Maine Restaurant WeekGrab a sitter and check out the Maine foodie scene. Running the 1st-12th, there are so many great events happening, it's hard to know where to start. Check out a full list of restaurants here. 4. St. Patrick's Day ParadeCelebrate St. Paddy's day with the annual parade! This is always a fun one for the kids - throw on your green and head to Portland on Saturday the 17th at 11am. 5. The Maine Flower ShowNeed a glimpse of Spring? Take a walk through the Maine Flower Show running March 21-25th. It's an amazing display of landscapes and flowers, not to be missed. 6. Fun on the FarmIf you haven't checked out the family programs at Pineland Farms with your kiddos, definitely add it to your list. This month they have there usual and always fun Friday's on the Farm as well as special events like Maple Sugaring Demos and Play Days on the Farm. Check out their calendar of events here. 7. Spring SkiingWith a big snow storm coming Wednesday, Spring skiing is looking promising! With lots of hockey, we've had very little time to fit ski days in, so I'm eager to take the boys up to the mountains for some March skiing. Check out Ski Maine's website for all the latest on conditions. 8. Maine Boatbuilders ShowThis is my husband's favorite local boat show. Despite a foot of snow headed our way, boating season will be here before you know it! Head over to the Portland Sports Complex the 23rd-25th and check out some beautiful boats soak up the salty scene. Check out all the details here. Any of these on your list? Mainers, what are your favorite ways to make March fun!?! Thanks as always for stopping by. XX
