The boys have both been sick this week.. one with a croup and cough and the other with a quick yet narly stomach bug. Yesterday they were both on the mend and up to their usual antics, but I thought we still needed another day before it would be socially acceptable to be out and about. Yesterday also happened to be my little guys 3rd birthday (of course)... and by the way, when did they get to be 3 and almost 5?? Anyway, while I had ambitions of big day of a birthday play date and fun activities a day at home was the reality.
The irony is that while I was feeling badly the big birthday was going to be a day at home, it was actually the best day! The boys had a blast hanging out at home and hanging out with each other. Playing make believe, hockey in the basement, and pirates in their underwear until noon, lobster shaped pb&js and playing outside on the swing set in the afternoon, can't beat it. Watching them loving the little things and listening to their belly laughs was just the best- a gift.
The day was a good reminder that it's the little things that matter to our little people. It was also so nice to see these two monkeys connecting and playing pretty well together (they fight, they push, they wrestle, but at the end of the day, they are best buddies). The funniest thing... My older guy went to his room wrapped up a big bouncy ball in his cape and gave it to his brother as a present (I chuckled) but then his brother opened it up and thought it was the best ever! Lot's to learn from our little ones!
Happy Birthday to our sweet Calvin and here's to slowing down and appreciating the little things! Thanks as always for stopping by!!
