If you stop by here often, you know how much I love making smoothies in my Vitamix! I often mix up my own recipes, and play with ones I find online. Well, its been a crazy and hectic couple weeks and time has been limited which has led me to me new favorite app! The Blender Girl Smoothie App! It's genius for smoothie lovers! You can either look through all her recipes (currently her favorite 70, and she's rolling out 100 more..1 each week), or you can use the simple drop down questions to help narrow down your list based on what you're in the mood for, dietary restrictions, and what you're looking to achieve etc.. I also love that you can mark your favorites and come back to them quickly. My new favorite and go-to energy boost right now is her Cake Batter smoothie. She nailed the combination of flavors, and it's packed with yummy, healthy, and filling ingredients that stay with me as I go through my day! Cake Batter Smoothie (recipe from The Blender Girl App)
2 cups unsweetened almond milk or other nut, grain, or seed milk (strained if homemade) 3 tablespoons raw cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 cup rolled oats 1/2 cup raw unsalted cashews, soaked 2 tablespoons raw pecans, soaked 2 tablespoons raw almond butter 1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (or more or less to taste) 1 1/2 frozed sliced bananas 1/2 cup ice cubes Optional Boosters: 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract 1 tablespoon acai powder 1/4 cup frozen raw cauliflower florets Throw all of the ingredients except the bananas and ice into your Vitamix or blender and blast on high for 30-60 seconds until the nuts are completely pureed. Add the bananas and ice cubes and blast for another 10-20 seconds until smooth and creamy. A few notes: I usually add chia seeds. I often don't soak the nuts or freeze the bananas and it still tastes delicious. I also sometimes substitute the cacao powder a couple scoops of my USANA Chocolate Nutrimeal. *Note that if I'm making this for myself I usually cut the recipe roughly in half, or I share the full recipe with me little rascals that love it!!
