If you've been following along, you know how much I LOVE my Vitamix :-) Many of you have asked me questions about what model I use and if the investment (yes they are pricey and it is truly an investment) is worth it. First of all, here's the deal- whether of not it is a worthwhile investment for you and your family is 100% personal and dependent on you and your lifestyle etc.. It will be worth it if you want to make smoothies at home (it's usually about $6/smoothie when you buy one out), if you want to cook/make more of your food from scratch (i.e. its fabulous for making hummus, pesto, soups etc), if you are preparing things for a family (i.e. a small blender and mini food processor may suffice for small portions), and if you are committed/likely to maintain these practices (it won't be worth it if this is short-lived).
For me and my family, investing in a Vitamix has been worth EVERY dollar!! We have tried several other blenders/machines and there is just no comparison when you step up to this level.. We use it on average at least 2 times a day, and I really feel like it helps us all in our efforts to be healthier. My kids guzzle their smoothies full of things like greens, beets, and carrots that the Vitamix takes care of in seconds, no more chunks & lumps which is important to them :-) My little guy is obsessed with homemade hummus, and we used it just yesterday to help us with you garden fresh tomato sauce. To answer your questions about which model I use, while I knew I wanted to invest, I knew the fancy models were not in our budget.. we have the Turboblend Variable Speed; it's just a basic model, but I do like the variable speed option. We opted for a certified reconditioned model which saved us hundreds and is amazing. The certified reconditioned models come with a brand new container and a 5 year warranty.
Right now through November, Vitamix is offering the basic certified reconditioned models for $299 which $30 off their usual price, and if you use my coupon code 06-009557 you'll also get free shipping. Check it out!
I've got some great smoothie recipes posted on here, check them out and stay tuned for more. This Thirsty Thursday I'll be posting the boys and my new favorite energy smoothie :-)
