What do you do when you have a whole bunch of ripe/almost overripe bananas lying around? The kids are ALL at school right now, so I'm trying to scrub the house and continue my efforts to purge with no little people around. We have a big surplus of bananas from a soccer tournament last weekend and I'm going to use them up before they go bad or attract fruit flies (it's hot here this week). While my go-to is banana bread or our absolute favorite banana chocolate chip muffins (this recipe is so yummy) I'm trying to help everyone in this house make healthier choices, so this week I'm making freezer smoothie packs. These take a little bit of prep but can save so much time when you really need it (like the morning bus stop hustle). I simply put all ingredients except the liquid in a sandwich size ziploc baggie - just be sure to get all the air out of the bag before you seal. Today I made baggies for this yummy Chocolate Avocado Smoothie that I shared over on Savvy Sassy Moms this spring and our family favorite TB12 Copycat Blueberry Nut Smoothie. I'm also working on perfecting a copycat for the Daily Harvest caoco hazelnut smoothie. I'll keep you posted when I have that one perfected! I LOVE Daily Harvest and will continue to buy boxes from time to time, but making my own smoothie packs is better for my grocery budget! And of course a great way to use up all these bananas - I find it easier to slice the bananas before putting them in the bag. Now time to enjoy a smoothie (and maybe a shower) before the kids are off the bus and the chaos returns. Happy Wednesday Friends! XX
