With the unpredictable weather here in Maine, the forecast for more snow, and today's decent temperatures, I felt the need to get outside with my kids. My husband was out lobstering all day so it was just me, my two energetic little guys and our dog :-) We had a great time skating on our town pond; it's so fun to watch them both skate. The pond was full of friendly faces, and I'm continuously reminded why I love living in a small town in Maine.
Knowing that the dog needed a good walk, we then hit the trails near our house. We walk these trails often; today we it was picturesque to say the least...lightly snowing, temps in the 30's, and empty trails on the river. So peaceful... But as is with most events with toddlers, this picture didn't last long..:-) My older son can typically make it all the way around our usually loop, but today the snow was extra deep and he was extra tired... I'm usually pretty good at knowing my kids limits and when we're about to exit fun into meltdown, but today I pushed the envelope wanting us to embrace the outdoors and I quickly paid the price.. We were halfway through the walk (meaning we had to walk the same distance to get back) when we had a major meltdown... he shed a few tears and said he couldn't walk anymore... I'm sure we were quite a picture.. I won't bore you with the details of how I bribed him and kept him motivated for the long walk home, but we made it and he finished an entire box of Annie's Mac & Cheese. Never a dull moment, but it sure is interesting.. :-)

No mom of the year award today, but I promise you as soon as were on the home stretch he was relatively happy again...slow moving but happy...and by the time he dug into his bowl of Annies he was as good as new :-) Hope you all had a great day! Did you head outside today? Anyone go any of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend events?
Thanks for stopping by.
PS- only 1 awkward pick of my little guy b/c he was on my back the whole time :-)
