Perhaps this is really take 4 or 5, but you get the picture... I am usually good at finding great deals! But, when it comes to shopping for food, I am not consistent. I go through spurts of couponing with success and sticking to a budget, but loose focus...I try to buy fairly healthy and mostly organic which makes it challenging to find good deals and keep the totals down. But, after a bad week (5 grocery trips 3 different stores and way too much $$ spent) I'm going back to the drawing board! Back to meal planning and budgeting for me!
I know it can be done! Others do it and so can I! I have identified my weaknesses- I make too much food at once, am not good at utilizing leftovers, I don't plan enough in advance (resulting in too many trips to the store and too many temptations), I don't make the most out of what I have.. (i.e. things go bad), and I am not taking advantages of sales and good buys the way I should be (I need to be embracing the freezer). So here are my next steps:
Above you'll see a picture of the Menu and budget spreadsheet I'm keeping on my fridge. Hopefully telling you all about my plan will keep me accountable. I know I can do this and I love a challenge ;-) I'll keep you posted each week on how I do!!
Any advice or words of wisdom??
